Hi!

Sorry if this newsletter is a bit late. I was going to do it last weekend and never got round to it (too busy sunbathing!). Have you ordered your John Illsley Never Told A Soul LP yet? It comes out on Friday June 22nd, and as I write this, John is going round the UK doing various press/radio/TV interviews to promote it, so keep a look out in your local papers. If you get Central TV, or Yorkshire TV, you'll see him interviewed and the video will also be on.

Later this month and next month, we will probably visit some European countries to do the same sort of thing, but we don't know yet where we're going so I can't give you any details. You'll just have to check your local press.

Re: Comfort and Joy: An EP of Mark's music for this film is released in the UK on July 27th, and the film opens in the UK on August 31st. The release date for the rest of the world have not yet been set, but I'll let you know in my next newsletter. Musicians on the EP are Terry Williams (drums), Guy Fletcher (keyboards), Chris White (sax), and Micky Feat (bass).

Re: Cal: UK release dates are as follows: Single (we don't know which track yet) - August 24th, LP - September 21st, film opens - September 14th. As with Comfort And Joy, the film and the LP will come out in the rest of the world at various future dates. Will let you know in the next letter. Musicians on Cal are Terry Williams (drums), John Illsley (bass), Paul Brady (guitars etc.), and Guy Fletcher (keyboards).

We still don't have any definite plans re the next Dire Straits studio LP or tour, but please be assured discussions are underway! Mark has already written some good songs...

Meanwhile, he is just about to complete his production work with Aztec Camera, and their LP will be out on WEA Records later this year. The Tina Turner LP is out this week in the UK, and is already out in the USA (where it entered the charts last week and is now no. 34 with a bullet). Unless you're new on the mailing list, you will already know that one of the tracks on her LP is Private Dancer which Mark wrote (also the album title). Tina is very keen to put this track out as her next single - but as with most of Mark's songs, it is quite long and would need editing. I'll let you know when EMI tell me what has been decided.

Quite a lot of you (especially the Irish amongst you) have asked about Paul Brady (one of the other artists we manage): well, he also has a track on the new Tina Turner LP - it's called Steel Claw. He also has two songs on the new Dave Edmunds LP which is released on July 1st.

That's all I can think of.

Best wishes for now,

LIZ.
