Dire Straits Information Service (D.S.I.S.) was the most reliable source for information on Dire Straits and its members. Unfortunately, it was closed in July 95 when Liz Whatley, secretary to Ed Bicknell who ran it, left Damage Management. As of September 96 this information service is continued by Terry Kilburn with the name Mark Knopfler News (M.K.N.).

It was not a fanclub, but it issued a newsletter about four times per year which provided the latest information on Dire Straits or Mark Knopfler, respectively, and related projects. It also had prize draws, a large buy/sell/exchange section, and fans could even get tickets for concerts before they went on public sale.
